Ken Johnson has been named Executive Director of the Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The center, established last fall with a $1 million gift from �������� entrepreneur and philanthropist Jules F. Knapp, serves to strengthen existing and foster new IIT technology-focused entrepreneurship programs.

Johnson, who has served as an adjunct professor at IIT’s Stuart Graduate School of Management since 2004, brings more than 15 years of experience as a corporate executive to his new role.

“We are absolutely delighted to have a seasoned professional of Ken’s experience and skill level joining us at IIT,” said Dennis Roberson, IIT’s Vice Provost for New Initiatives. “He will provide an enormous boost to our entrepreneurial aspirations across IIT and in our outreach efforts in the community and beyond.”

Johnson most recently served as President and COO of Staffing and Training Inc. He has also served in executive positions with CSX Corporation, IBM, Allstate and Baxter International. He holds a master’s degree from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management as well as a law degree from John Marshall.

Founded in 1890, IIT is a Ph.D.-granting technological university awarding degrees in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, as well as architecture, psychology, design, business and law. IIT’s interprofessional, technology-focused curriculum prepares the university’s 6,200 students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and culturally diverse global workplace.
