Echoes of Bronzeville: Strife on State

Deluge, in collaboration with Alicia Bunton, assistant vice president of community affairs, and Michelangelo Sabatino, director of the College of Architecture’s Ph.D. in architecture program, Syda Taylor, executive director of Organic Oneness, and Healing 1919 present Echoes of Bronzeville: Strife on State featuring avery r. young, the first Poet Laureate City of , and sound artists.
The Echoes of Bronzeville series concludes in the Schulz Auditorium of Galvin Tower (former site of the Binga Bank, ’s first Black-owned bank and steps away from the “Vortex of Violence” in the 1919 Race Riot). This program captures the cacophony of sounds and strife of Bronzeville street life. This event will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 3–5:30 p.m. at 10 .
Entry is free and open to all with RSVP. Free parking is available on State Street between 35th and 34th Streets at Illinois Tech Parking Lot D4.
